Acrylic vs Glass vs Crystal Awards: What Is the Difference?
Acrylic, glass and crystal awards compared side by side: weight, clarity, durability, printing, custom shapes and price, and which to choose for your event.

From across a room, a clear acrylic award, a glass award and a crystal award can look almost identical. Pick them up and the difference is immediate. This is the comparison we walk customers through at the counter.

Choose acrylic when
You need many pieces, a custom outline such as your logo or a mascot, or bright colour printing, or the awards have to travel. Acrylic is also the safer choice for award nights where trophies get passed around on stage.
Choose glass when
You want the feel of glass at a moderate budget, for long-service awards or conference mementoes.
Choose crystal when
The award is for a few senior people: a CEO award, a lifetime achievement honour, a VIP guest. The weight and sparkle make it feel important the moment it is handed over.

How to tell them apart in the shop
- Weight: crystal is noticeably heavier than glass of the same size; acrylic is the lightest.
- Edge colour: look at the cut edge. Glass often shows a green tint; acrylic and crystal stay clear.
- Sound: tap gently with a fingernail. Glass and crystal ring; acrylic gives a dull tap.
Care tips
- Clean acrylic with a soft, damp microfibre cloth. Avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, which can cloud it.
- Glass and crystal can be cleaned with a mild glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth.
- Keep all three out of strong direct sunlight for long periods to protect printed colours.
